Old Fossils.

And no I do not mean the senior members of my entourage, ancient though they may be. No instead I mean the Jurassic age fossils that are found on the beach along England's southern coast most famously around Lyme Regis.

The day began with a splendid home cooked English breakfast from our excellent host Carlo. From there we jumped in the car and headed south soon finding ourselves in the very narrow and confusing confines of Lyme Regis itself. Having finally managed to park the car, finding car parking spaces is proving to be the real trick with driving in England.

We found the local museum where we joined our group of fossil hunters, many of rather tender years, and under our informative and extremely helpful guides Patty and Tom, we began our search as the English weather began to clear to sunny skies  . Whilst some in our group found Icthysaur vertibrae and another group found 2 fossilised fish, we ourselves were less fortunate but did nevertheless bring back some nice finds. These have been packed away before they could be photographed so you will just have to wait.

From there our intention was to go to Glastonbury Tor. Charlotte the GPS most sucessfully guided us through the English countryside of the back blocks of Devon, Dorset and Somerset. However she failed to get us to the Tor despite us driving underneath it. Charlotte does find carparks or entrances very well.

So we continued on to our next nightly stop through farms of sheep, cattle and solar panels, coming to a stop in Midsomer Norton. Here we dined at home, Tony having prepared pasta and apple and blackberry pie with cream so thick that his father Lyall would be proud. Then we locked the doors and windows to avoid the murderous locals (ever heard of the "Midsomer Murders") hopefully spending the night in blissful security.

Quote of the day.
Sandra: "I not having any luck. I can't find anything."
Tony: "What's that?" (pointing at the nice conglomeration of small ammonite shells at her feet).
Sandra: "Your such a smart arse."

Ah, breakfast!

Its cold, wet and windy. There are people swimming out there. No. Just NO!

I found one! How do I get it out ?
