A Final Outing.
A Final Outing.
So as to make amends for their earlier mistake, once they had finished breakfast at one of the nearby pubs, a bus load of Germans had arrived unexpectedly just before us, the Entourage and I eventually returned to the British museum.The space I have does not suffice to describe the museum and just the items on display. A week may not be sufficient to take it all in and do it justice. A lot of small doses might be a better way but even then it might take a month.
After finally leaving the museum, we walked towards Trafalgar Square, passing by a little shop known as the “Orc’s Nest”. True geeks out there will understand that this was the birthplace of the company “Games Workshop”. Purchases were made. Evil places.
From there we enjoyed walking through the famous square, down to the Thames crossing it by one of its many bridges and reaching the London Eye. The party was a little concerned at its size and the huge crowd out front. We left and went in search of afternoon tea.
This search took us along the banks of the Thames away from the houses of Parliament and eventually to the Globe Theatre. Having finally partaken of some tea we duly watch a performance of “Hamlet” in the Globe. It was a most entertaining and interesting experience though I think we will hire cushions next time.
Returning to our hotel we did a final repack of all that we wish to bring back to Australia, leaving behind much paraphernalia that the Entourage had accumulated over the course of the last month. While most of the party will be glad to get home, none of us are looking forward to the trip and all of us want more time off. Tomorrow will be a sad day.
Quote of the Day;
“Confusion is my natural state”, Marcus.
“Hold the bear, I’ve got this”, Beth and/or Marcus, several times this trip.
Drinks of Note;
Strawberry lemonade – a mocktail that is lemonade flavoured like strawberries through the addition a syrup, with berry pips in it, to the glass before adding the lemonade. Very nice.
Portobello Pale Ale – a golden, chilled almost lager like ale. No creamy taste or hoppy tones to this drink.
Portobello Real Ale – a darker ale tasting of citrus fruit with a light finish of hops bitterness.
