A Final Outing.

Image
A Final Outing. So as to make amends for their earlier mistake, once they had finished breakfast at one of the nearby pubs, a bus load of Germans had arrived unexpectedly just before us, the Entourage and I eventually returned to the British museum. The space I have does not suffice to describe the museum and just the items on display. A week may not be sufficient to take it all in and do it justice. A lot of small doses might be a better way but even then it might take a month. After finally leaving the museum, we walked towards Trafalgar Square, passing by a little shop known as the “Orc’s Nest”. True geeks out there will understand that this was the birthplace of the company “Games Workshop”. Purchases were made. Evil places. From there we enjoyed walking through the famous square, down to the Thames crossing it by one of its many bridges and reaching the London Eye. The party was a little concerned at its size and the huge crowd out front. We left and went in ...

The Loot of Empire ... and I missed it.

The Loot of Empire ... and I missed it. Damn my staff. How dare they? How could they? They went out to breakfast, waffles no less, and LEFT ME IN THE ROOM! Really! The nerve of it all! They went to the British Museum of all places. They had a great time so I am told. Saw lots of things. Mummys, the Rosetta Stone, Greek Vases, Inca holy skulls, entire buildings the list just goes on. And to think they came home early without seeing the whole thing! Without me they are lost. No motivation or drive. Probably spent most of their time in the Pizzeria there eating pizza and calzone and didn't really get out do much apart from shopping. And then they came home and had dinner. Pies (beef & ale and chicken & mushroom) with jam rolly pollys for dessert as well as a good deal to drink. THEY will JUST HAVE to take me TOMORROW! The Museum. A Greek Temple. A Greek glass drinking bowl. The original Chimera. From left to right, Campbell...

I walk the Line.

I walk the Line. Not happy with hotel and what it calls food. Marcus had claimed yesterday that they could not spoil crissouants, and then immediately regreted his call. So this morning the Entourage set off in search of a better breakfast. Just around the corner from our hotel Tony had spied a small Greek cafe that offered breakfast which we all descended on. They proved to do an excellent English or Continental breakfast and the orange juice tasted like orange juice. All were well satisfied. From there our path took us across London, and its many train networks, to Greenwich and the old Royal Observatory. Here we spent much of the day looking at both the Observatory, Planetarium and the cafe. From here we sampled even more of the London rail network to arrive at Crystal Palace park once site of the World Exhibition. The reason for coming here was that in the grounds of Crystal Palace Park are life sized models of prehistoric creatures, including dinosaurs, that had been creat...

It's Only Natural.

It's Only Natural. Though we are staying close to the centre of London our first hotel here spoiled us and neither myself nor the Entourage are enjoying our current accommodation. The room is small, the food is ... ordinary and the plumbing leaves a bit to be desired. It is only a few more days. Sigh. Since a large part of the motivation for this trip was for the junior members of staff to have the opportunity to see the museums of London, so today was the day we began to do that by heading out to the Natural History Museum. This will be our only venue today. Arriving there just as the museum opened for the day we entered to find "Dippy", the diplodicus skeleton missing from his iconic post just inside the front doors. He is apparently on a UK tour to promote the Museum. Oh well. From there it was off to the Maze of Screaming Children, the Dinosaur Hall. With the more senior members in their wake, the junior members of staff set a cracking pace to get to the hal...
