Along the North.

Along the North.

So after a light breakfast we bid our host, his dog, and his house (dating from 1750) a fond farewell and headed off into the Scottish ... fog. The weather did not appear to be co-operating.

Also not co-operating was Charlotte. For a time it seemed that she was now tamed and directing us only down wide, double laned roads of some note. However it gradually dawned on us that she was only lying quietly whilst she inflicted new tortures upon us. With no narrow hedge rowed lanes to send us down, she instead sent us through every roundabout she could find. And then, when the opportunity was there she sent us down the narrow country lanes. This time she was able to direct us to, through and over some of narrowest bridsges, with walls mind you. Still we may have found part of the problem with Charlotte. At one point she directed us into roadworks for a new major highway that she clearly knew nothing about. And later when crossing the Firth of Forth she clearly knew nothing of the Queensberry Crossing Bridge completed August last year. She had us instead floating lost over the see until by luck we reached a point that she could recognise and direct us once again via her usual devious ways.

For the junior members of the Entourage, our first stop of the day was Macduff, yes it is a town on the north coast of Scotland, Aquarium. My staff failed to take any pictures inside but the junior team thought it was well worth the visit.

From there, via Charlotte’s shenanigans, headed to Dunottor castle. This is one of Sandra’s favourite places provided you can avoid all the stairs coming back. A magnificent though lonely place it seems today.

The rest of the day, only a couple of hours, was spent enjoying the views of the countryside and navigating through the outer suburbs of Edinburgh to reach our hotel. The Entourage were all feeling a little worse for wear and tear, I gave them a rest day damn it, and after a light dinner they retired for the night.

Quote of the Day;
“Really Charlotte, really!”, Sandra, several times, in must frustration.

"Can I have some Pea", Beth, at dinner no less.

Drinks of Note;
Blackthorn Gold – an apple cider of outstanding quality. Tart without being bitter and not at all too sweet.
Boddington’s – a traditional ale without any cream to taste ending in bitter hoppy tones.

  1. Took me a while to realise where the stingray was. I don't think one is supposed to take animals from the aquarium. For several reasons, you know, like, you get wet n stuff.
